Walk out of the Library and through the glass doors
to your left into the Community Plaza
The three levels of the Library create a diverse array of spaces and experiences for the community, truly rethinking the traditional library to meet the needs of our current and future community. The children’s area drops down the scale to create secure spaces, with little cubby recesses built into the walls and kid-sized bleachers forstorytimee.
A wealth of workspaces and seating are spread throughout every level enabling easy private study as well as group work and collaboration.
The sweeping staircase leads the user up revealing the grand and spacious first level. Events can be held on the terraced seating, which doubles as a casual lounge-about space. And neatly tucked in behind this is the youth hangout zone with gaming consoles and bean bags. In addition, flexible meeting rooms can be booked for a range of activities that promote community engagement and connection.
Along the western edge visitors are treated to a unique expansive view of the lush Max Pawsey Reserve next door. A masterplan is now in the works for the reserve, and will transform over the next few years into a rich wetlands and community space.
Features include:
The Library offers year-round programs and activities for all ages – from babies and toddlers through to older adults.
